The Gold Florin to Narciso Parigi

Singer Narciso Parigi received from Mayor Dario Nardella the Gold Florin of the city of Florence made by Master Goldsmith Paolo Penko.

“With his voice,” said Mayor Nardella, “Parigi has linked its name to the city and its purple heart. Today is his birthday and we have decided to give him this gift: the Gold Florin. Parigi is a true Florentine and a singer who is loved not only in his own city but also abroad, in the United States, where he has been an ambassador of the best Italian musical tradition. Today we embrace him, all Florence loves him very much. Every time he comes to the stadium it is always a joy and he always gives the fans great support and courage, he is the twelfth man for the team.

Narciso Parigi made more than 5.000 recordings of songs, starred in numerous films and enjoyed extraordinary international success in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, which took him around the world, without ever forgetting his native Florence.

However, his name is inextricably linked to the Fiorentina anthem that is played at the stadium before every match.
