Artigianato e Palazzo receives the Gold Florin
Artigianato e Palazzo received the Gold Florin of the City of Florence by Master Goldsmith Paolo Penko, which was presented by Mayor Dario Nardella.
“This is the City’s most important award, a way of saying thank you and of encouraging you to do even better. We are sure that this edition will be as rich in novelties and craftsmanship as ever. Florence is experiencing a new renaissance of craftsmanship, when the vision of the artist met the know-how of the master craftsman. There is a new generation that is recovering the primordial concept of the Renaissance workshop and I would like to thank Giorgiana Corsini and Neri Torrigiani for always being so open-minded towards young people,” said the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella.
ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO is an important milestone, which bears witness to a process that is constantly evolving, but which is consistent with the initial objectives.
“We wanted to safeguard, valorise and carry the art professions into the future through an event that would be an opportunity for dialogue and comparison, focusing not only on the product but also on the man, the work, the workshops, to offer a unique experience of narration and sharing,” explain Giorgiana Corsini and Neri Torrigiani. In fact, the exhibition stands out because the craftsmen are at work in their workshop corners, reconstructed for the occasion along the avenues and lemon houses of the 17th-century Corsini Gardens.
“Because being a craftsman is not just about manual skill, it is about knowledge, about ‘knowing how to do’ with passion and intelligence, about the ability to combine hand and mind. These are values that we must not lose because they represent our Italian identity and still represent an opportunity for the future,” continue Giorgiana Corsini and Neri Torrigiani.
