Paolo Penko and the Fairy Morgana
A bracelet to help to the restoration of the “Fonte della Fata Morgana” (Fountain of the Fairy Morgana)
The “Fata Morgana” bracelet was made on the occasion of the 26th edition of Artigianato & Palazzo, to help raise funds for the restoration of the “Fonte della Fata Morgana”.
The jewel, made entirely by hand, in 925% silver, chiselled and embellished with the penkato technique, is inspired by Giambologna’s sculpture representing the Fata Morgana.
The work of art, located in the “Fonte della Fata Morgana” complex, also known as the “Casina delle fate”, was commissioned by Bernardo Vecchietti in the second half of the 16th century and donated by the Morrocchi family to the Municipality of Bagno a Ripoli a few decades ago.
Today, thanks to Artigianato & Palazzo, the municipal council of Bagno a Ripoli has approved a plan to restore the water system and is working on the reproduction of the Giambologna statue, which has been lost for years.
