Paolo Penko’s jewellery for Dolce&Gabbana
Until 15 October at Palazzo Vecchio, the creations of the 38 artisans chosen for Dolce&Gabbana’s haute couture and high fashion shows will be on display.
In Palazzo Vecchio, in the Cortile del Michelozzo and in the Sala dei Gigli, within the museum itinerary of the Palazzo, an exhibition of the unique pieces of the 38 workshops chosen by Dolce&Gabbana for their fashion show has been set up. The two stylists Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have made a selection of the artisans’ works and set up an “open air” exhibition that will remain open to the public until 15 October.
The entire project is the result of the collaboration between Dolce&Gabbana and Pitti Immagine, who have had the support of Agenzia Ice and all the local associations and institutions: Centro di Firenze per la moda Italiana, Comune, Fondazione Cassa Risparmio Firenze, Camera di Commercio and others.
Inside the exhibition you will also find our showcase with some of our jewellery inspired by the Florentine Renaissance.
BOTTICELLI BROOCH AND PENDANT: Brooch and pendant in yellow gold inspired by two of the three Graces from Botticelli’s “La Primavera”. Two classic examples of Florentine Renaissance jewellery. The brooch is embellished with four pearls and a cusp-cut iolite, a symbol of strength and purity. The pendant has, in the white of the pearls and the red and green of the tourmalines, a reference to the colours of the three feathers of the Medici company.
TRIBUTE TO HANS HOLBEIN: “The Mermaid” and “Putto with Dolphin” – Brooches inspired by a design by the great German designer of Renaissance-style jewellery, Hans Holbein. The jewels, embellished with the charm of emeralds and rubies finely set in gold, are, despite their severe composure, pleasantly adorned with whirls and scrolls and enriched with three grey South Sea baroque pearls.
PANIERINA FIORENTINA: Brooch inspired by a jewel of the “Adoration of the Magi” by Ghirlandaio, a narrator attentive to the precious details of civil and religious life in the 15th century, thanks also to his apprenticeship in his father’s goldsmith’s workshop. The jewel, in yellow and white gold, is embellished with pearls and precious stones.
